Quirk Hotel, Richmond, VA

I stumbled across this boutique hotel when researching lodging options for a friend’s wedding. The Quirk is located near the VCU campus in a very hipster art district. Most importantly, it was located less than a block away from the wedding venue. I was ecstatic to learn that this unique place was a HYATT PROPERTY! Rates go for over $350/night so I gleeful redeemed two Category 1-4 free night certificates for the weekend. Alternatively I could have also dropped a modest 12k points per night.

It is a charming property and served its purpose well of providing a close place to crash after a night of revelrous imbibing. The building itself was a former department store and retained a lot of the original features like the hardwood floors and high ceilings. We had a standard room which didn’t have great views but the widows were high enough that it didn’t even matter.

Food & beverage choices were the lobby bar, a coffee shop which served breakfast and a rooftop bar. It had great views but which was open from 5-11PM so we didn’t have a chance to see it in operation. Self parking was a reasonable $12/day in a convenient lot across the street. Valet was also available for $24/day. Both are covered by Globalist benefits.

The lobby was a great place to hangout and grab a drink. There was also a neat courtyard and a cute store/art gallery if you’re into that sort of thing. There was also a mezzanine which could be a good location for a corporate or pre-wedding happy hour. “Quirk” was the perfect name for this hotel as its quirky decor added to the unique architecture and made you forget you were even in a Hyatt property. That’s the nice thing about these “Destination Collection” brands. You get the experience of a small independent property while still being able to redeem free night and receive status benefits.

I recommend the Quirk for anyone, hipster and normie alike if you want a unique experience in a cool part of town while still maintaining loyalty to the best hotel brand on earth #hyatt4life
